Zeng Yulan was a native of Hsinchu. From a young age, he showed great interest in painting. In 1928, when Li Xia came to Hsinchu, Zeng Yulan became his apprentice and learn figure painting. 

This artwork is titled "Imitating Dongshan Li Xia's Cloud Immortal Style." The bold and dynamic contour lines, ink-wash technique, and open-face approach closely resemble Li Xia's works, suggesting the influence of the mentor. Several pieces in this exhibition are dedicated to Zeng Yulan, indicating his close interactions with local artists in Hsinchu or visiting painters.
