Xie Jieshi, originally named Kai (also known as Hai), born in the southern gate of Tek-chhàm.  He was a public school teacher, later studied in Japan and became acquantant with Pu Yi (溥儀), the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty and head of Manchukuo (滿州國，1932-1945).  Xie Jieshi was pointed positions such as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador to Japan, making him the highest-ranking Taiwanese official in Manchukuo. After World War II, he was arrested in Beijing on charges of collaborationist activities.
