Imitation of Xu Wei's Flower and Bird Painting
Xie Guoqiao 1811-1864
Xie Guanqiao, a native of Zhaoyan, Fujian, was renowned for his skills in poetry, calligraphy, and painting, as well as his knowledge of music and art criticism. From 1857 to 1860, he came to Taiwan and resided in various places, including Tek-chhàm.
This painting employs a free and expressive style using ink wash techniques. The artist mentioned in the inscription that it is an imitation of the artistic style of Xu Wei, a renowned painter known for his freehand ink paintings of flowers and birds.
