 Ink Bamboo Painting

Zheng Xiangpu 1892-1963

5.鄭香圃/墨竹圖.jpg

Zheng Xiangpu (1892-1963), also known as Jianshui, he was a descendant of the Zheng family. He excelled in poetry, calligraphy, and painting, and was active in the Hsinchu region. He is known as one of the "Three Friends of Pine, Bamboo, and Plum" along with the literati Shuzhu Fan Yaogeng and Songchi Zhou Weijin in Hsinchu.

This ink bamboo painting exhibits rapid and bold brushwork with strong dotting, truly capturing a sense of "elegance." The signature "six six" suggests that it was created in 1957, when Zheng Xiangpu was sixty-six years old.
