Lin Zhanmei (1821~1868), also known as Xuecun, a wealthy figure from Tek-chhàm. He was a skilled player of the ancient Chinese music instrument guqin. He not only performed but also actively sought to collect these instruments. He also known for his poetry, calligraphy and painting, was an all-rounded literati.
Wan Huo Song(萬壑松) is a guqin that Lin Zhanmei acquired at great expense overseas in 1853. Overjoyed with his acquisition, Lin even composed a piece self-titled song for the guqin, in which he expressed his delight in carrying it with him when climbing mountains and visiting watersides. The fact that there is an engraving of the Zhide era title on the soundboard led to its classification as a Tang Dynasty guqin.
The Wan Huo Song guqin changed hands over time and eventually came into the possession of Hong Yinan (1871-1927), a well-known gentry in Mengjia. The instrument was later obtained by Lin Shiqiao, a descendant of the Lin family, through a visit with descendants of the Hong family. Lin Shiqiao commissioned a master guqin maker to create a replica of the guqin and donated to NTHU Herritage museum in 2018.
