Lu had a close relationship with Lin Zhanmei, and was proficient in various calligraphy styles, had a rich collection of ancient inscriptions, bronzes, and ritual vessels. Known for his meticulous research and scholarship, Lu was hailed as the "Master of Taiwan Epigraphy."
The couplet belongs to the category of tea couplets, representing the leisurely exchange of poetic lines among literati. The calligraphic work appears to be in line with the mainstream calligraphic style in mid-18th and early 19th century.
