Zheng Xiangpu (1892-1963), also known as Jianshui, was a descendant of the Zheng family. He excelled in poetry, calligraphy, and painting, and was active in the Hsinchu region. He is known as one of the "Three Friends of Pine, Bamboo, and Plum" along with the literati "Slim Bamboo" Fan Yaogeng (1877-1950) and "Pine Enthusiast" Zhou Weijin (1882-?) in Hsinchu. This ink bamboo painting exhibits rapid and bold brushwork with strong dotting, capturing a sense of elegance. The signature "six six" suggests that it was created in 1957, when Zheng Xiangpu was sixty-six years old.
