小川環樹是湯川秀樹的四弟。秀樹曾回憶，環樹自幼酷愛閱讀且記憶力驚人，甚至能記住家中所有藏書的位置，連父親都深感驚嘆。環樹後來成為近代日本重要的中國古典小說與詩詞研究者，畢業於京都帝國大學文學部，後任教於東北帝國大學（戰後為東北大學）與京都大學。
展出的兩件明信片寫於1943年，當時環樹在東北帝大任教，致信予京都的中田勇次郎（1905-1998），感謝其贈書，並因校內需求，請求再寄一冊同書。信中並提及日本東北春遲的氣候。
【Description】
Tamaki Ogawa was Hideki Yukawa’s younger brother. Hideki later recalled that Tamaki developed an intense love of reading from an early age and possessed an extraordinary memory—so remarkable that he could recall the location of every book in the family’s library, to the amazement even of their father. Tamaki went on to become a leading scholar of classical Chinese fiction and poetry in Japan. He graduated from the Faculty of Letters at Kyoto Imperial University and later taught at Tohoku Imperial University (later Tohoku University) and Kyoto University.
The two postcards on view were written in 1943, when Tamaki was teaching at Tohoku Imperial University. Addressed to Yujiro Nakata (1905–1998) in Kyoto, they express his gratitude for the gift of a book and include a request for an additional copy to meet institutional needs. He also remarks on the late arrival of spring in northeastern Japan.

訳注詞選訂補御恵頒尔預り、此程祇領有難く御禮申上ます。当地は春遅く、漸く今日、始めて梅の蕾の開きさうになつたのを見た位で、文明の光に浴するのも其だけ晚いやうな気がします。尚、甚だ勝手至極のお願乍ら、学校でも大著購入致度考へて居ますので、訂補今一部頂戴出来ぬものでせうか。御厚意に甘へてお願致します。
四月五日。不一。
感謝惠賜《譯注詞選訂補》一書。承蒙垂賜，實感光榮，深表謝意。敝地春來遲緩，直到今日才初次見到梅花花蕾似乎即將綻放的景象。每每想到連這樣沐浴文明之光的時節都比別處來得晚一步，心中不免覺得有些落後之感。此外，實在冒昧至極，尚有一事懇請。敝校方面亦有意購置閣下之大著，不知可否再惠賜一部《訂補》一書？冒昧叨擾，懇請寬恕，並願蒙再賜厚意。
四月五日，謹上。

Thank you for kindly sending me a copy of Revised and Supplemented Annotated Selection of Ci Poetry. I am deeply honored by your generosity and wish to express my sincere gratitude.Spring arrives late in this region. Not until today have I seen, for the first time this year, the buds of plum blossoms appearing as though on the verge of opening. Each time I reflect that even such moments—bathed in the light of civilization—come here later than elsewhere, I cannot help but feel a certain sense of backwardness.I must also beg your indulgence for an additional and most impertinent request. Our institution is likewise interested in acquiring your esteemed work, and I venture to ask whether it might be possible for you to grant us another copy of the same volume. I sincerely apologize for this intrusion and humbly ask for your forbearance, while hoping once again for your generous kindness.
