【Translation】

The World Is One. Hideki Yukawa

【Description】
Hideki Yukawa initially devoted himself wholeheartedly to academic research. However, as the destructive power of the atomic bomb was revealed to the world in stark and brutal reality—and as Cold War tensions intensified alongside the global nuclear arms race—his concerns shifted. He came to recognize that scientists also needed to consider the social impact of scientific research.
Hideki became deeply engaged in peace movements. In later years, he frequently inscribed the phrase Sekai wa hitotsu—“The world is one”—to articulate his vision of peace. Today, a monument bearing this inscription stands at the entrance of the Kyoto International Conference Center.
