【Description】
This waka records Yukawa Hideki’s state of mind when receiving visitors who came to see him during his illness. From its content, the poem is likely to have been written during a period of convalescence. After retiring from Kyoto University in 1975, Yukawa Hideki was diagnosed with prostate cancer and underwent surgery, thereafter spending much of his time recuperating at home.
