Hideki Yukawa/Self-Composed Waka, Album Leaf, “Yukichikaki”

【Translation】
Day after day passes in emptiness, slipping by in vain. In these passing days, I am no longer who I once was. Hideki.
【Description】
This waka reflects Hideki Yukawa’s late-life contemplation of his own condition. When this poem was written, he was likely in a period of convalescence. In the calligraphy, Yukawa renders the phrases “sono hi sono hi” (day after day) and “munashiku sugōsu” (passing in emptiness) in long, flowing strokes.
