【Description】
Wu Tingfang, also known as Zixiang, was born in Lukang, Changhua, and later moved to Shilin, Taipei. He initially studied Chinese poetry and literature, considering himself a disciple of Confucius, and participated in the first Shengyuan assessment exams, becoming a Xiucai. He later befriended Reverend George Leslie Mackay and converted to Christianity, becoming a preacher for the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan.
Wu's calligraphy, influenced by Lu Shiyi, is renowned for its clerical script. His writing style is noted for its "square, upright, and meticulously crafted" appearance, which is evident in this piece.
