【釋文】
鏡宇先生鄉大人節前敬肅者
滬江小住，得接光儀，連侍清尊，莫名依戀。
并蒙致函蘇皖兩省代為張羅，受寵若驚，銘感無既，比維起居安善。
年祉庥嘉如祝為慰別，後於嘉平廿八日乘致遠船南下度歲，於閩海中，
幸與黃小宋觀𧦴同伴，每以詩辭相贈答，尚不孤寂。
今正初二日到香港暫停二日，初四日抵粵，
一路風平浪靜，穩度重溟，甚慰
遠注。約計清明時節方能北歸，引望海天，無任馳系，專肅祇請。

【說明】
劉春霖，字潤琴，號石篔，清末民初書法家。中國末代科舉狀元，殿試後授翰林院修撰一職，曾與同榜進士被清廷派往日本東京法政大學留學，回國後任直隸諮議局、資政局議員等職務。1912 年後曾於中華民國總統府任職，並主持過祭孔典禮。
此件作品是劉春霖寫給鏡宇先生，感謝其照顧並匯報行程平安的信件。同時代以鏡宇為字的人物，有北京百年醫藥世家同仁堂傳人樂達聰 (1872-1954）與清未著名外交家呂海寰 (1843-1927)，依信件提及滬江（上海），或與上海頗有淵源的呂海寰可能性較高。信札亦提及一路上與同行者詩辭往來贈答，或可以一窺這位末代狀元與友交遊之狀況。
【Description】
Liu Chunlin, courtesy name Runqin and style name Shiyun, was a late Qing and early Republican calligrapher and the last Zhuangyuan of the imperial examination. He later studied at Hosei University in Tokyo and held advisory roles in the Zhili Provincial Assembly and the Constitutional Assembly. After 1912, he worked in the Presidential Office of the Republic of China and once conducted Confucian ceremonies.
This letter to Mr. Jingyu expresses gratitude for his care and reports a safe journey. Notable figures named Jingyu include Le Dacong (1872-1954) of the Beijing Tongrentang medical family and diplomat Lu Haihuan (1843-1927) with significant ties to Shanghai, suggesting Lu as the likely recipient. The letter also mentions exchanging poems with fellow travelers, offering a glimpse into Liu's social interactions.
