Cheng Yang-cheng / The Course Materials of Hsueh Hai Academy

Hsueh Hai Academy, originally named Wenjia Academy, was located in the present-day Wanhua District, Taipei. During the Xianfeng reign, it was renamed by Liu Yun-ke (1792–1864), Governor-General of Fujian and Zhejiang. As an officially supported institution, it played a key role in cultivating talent in northern Taiwan.
This mock examination paper, written by a student of the academy, features neat handwriting and a strict format, reflecting the importance placed on exam standards. Multiple corrections and comments appear throughout, especially in the opening paragraph, where the examiner praised the student for demonstrating both a clear theme and strong reasoning.
