The exhibitions at the JieYing Heritage Museum focus on cultural interactions within the modern historical context of the East Asian Sinitic cultural sphere, with its rooted in National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, and Taiwan, while highlighting local values and connections. Since the establishment of the Preparatory Office, the NTHU Heritage Museum temporarily stationing in the Library, has hosted, in the exhibition hall of Macronix Building, 12 major exhibitions, 8 mini-exhibitions, co-organized 6 exhibitions with related institutions, and published 5 catalogues of its collection.
In celebration of National Tsing Hua University’s 114th founding anniversary and its 69th anniversary in Taiwan, let us revisit a memorable chapter written by Tsing Hua community members 10 years ago. In 2015, Professors Yang Rur-bin and Fang Sheng-ping sent 9 precious artifacts with special connections to Tsing Hua from their personal collection to be publicly auctioned. Upon hearing the news, members of the alumni groups "Tsing Hua Club One Hundred" and the "Tsing Hua Entrepreneur Network" quickly mobilized to pool resources, successfully bidding for 5 of the treasures. These 5 items, along with the remaining funds, were fully donated back to the university.
Furthermore, Professors Yang and Fang donated not only all the auction proceeds but also 5 additional rare artifacts to the collection. This act of solidarity and collaboration among faculty, students, and alumni laid a strong foundation for the museum’s development and stands as a testament to the spirit of Tsing Hua.
In the first phase of this exhibition, calligraphy, paintings, and letters by distinguished Tsing Hua alumni and former professors are showcased. Generously donated by alumni, these works highlight Tsing Hua’s deep-rooted classical tradition and witness the profound bond between the university and its community. The second phase features a selection of exhibits from past major exhibitions, guiding visitors to revisit the JieYing Museum's accomplishments over the past 10 years.
