Dong Zuo-bin (1895-1963), styled Yan-tang, was a renowned archaeologist and oracle bone scholar. He participated in the archaeological excavations of the Yin ruins in Anyang with Li Ji and made significant contributions to the study of oracle bones from the Yin ruins. He was known alongside Luo Zhen-yu, Guo Mo-ruo, and Wang Guo-wei as one of the "Four Masters of Oracle Bones." This work contains excerpts from ancient texts documenting the records of the kings of the Shang Dynasty, and is believed to be Dong Zuo-bin's research notes. Originally on paper smaller than a letter-sized sheet, it was later mounted and framed as a hanging scroll.
