Letter from Lu Zi-hui to Li Ji

啟生兄：桂林握別，瞬已數月，謹以起居安康為祝！聞貴所與社會所已著手遷入川中，詳情如何，能於便中賜知。聞社所中人離去甚眾，現在滇中此除韓啟桐、張鐵錚、朱久中等兄外，尚有何人？遷川事已否動身？公物及私眷均坐汽車亦分別坐膠輪大車？所址定川中何地？統希於便中詳為示知。再此蒙承帶回各物，得舍下信言均已收到，費神之處，容將來回謝。又蒙在桂林兄借去之開箱器，據鄭師付言該物已壞，由彼託人修理，但至今未曾取回。弟已問過鄭師付數次，不好意思再問，能兄便中催彼取回為荷？其實該物此地工廠即可修理，不必託人外求也。現鄭師付已由城中移來良豐，城中辦事處被炸，該處機臺均已拆回良豐。聞兄蒙寄存之箱件亦運回良豐矣。謹此。即祝近安！滇中諸友能代為致意。弟魯子惠。民國廿十九年十月四日。
Lu Zi-hui (1899 – date of death unknown), a scholar of physiology, joined the Institute of Psychology at the Academia Sinica in 1934 as an assistant researcher and later became the acting director. This letter, written by Lu Zi-hui in 1940 to Li Ji, discusses the issue of relocation during the time of the Second Sino-Japanese War, when both Lu Zi-hui and Li Ji were moving to different places to avoid the conflict. The letter mentions "parting in Gui-lin," after which the two institutes were relocated separately: the Institute of Psychology moved to Chong-qing, and the Institute of History and Philology, via Vietnam, eventually reached Kun-ming. In the winter of 1940, the war situation became urgent, and the Institute of History and Philology was again forced to move, this time to Li-jiang Town in Sichuan. It is unclear whether this letter reached its destination before the move or whether, amidst the chaos of war, the borrowed unpacking tool would ever be returned.

魯子惠（1899-卒年不詳），生理學研究學者，1934年加入中央研究院心理研究所擔任助理研究員，後曾晉升為代理所長。此為魯子惠於1940年寫給李濟的信札，內容提及搬遷之事，因當時正值抗日戰爭，魯子惠和李濟都在四處遷移避難。信中提及「桂林握別」，此別後兩所分別遷往不同地方，心理所往重慶遷移，史語所則經越南輾轉到了昆明。1940年冬，戰事告急，史語所又緊急遷往四川李莊鎮，不知此信是否在動身前送達，亦不知在戰亂之中，所借的開箱器是否還有機會物歸原主。
