In 1949, Le Zhu-fang (1916–1987), a Mongolian delegate to the National Assembly, arrived in Taiwan from Okinawa with her husband Xi Zhen-duo (1911–1998) and their children. She wrote to Yu You-ren, President of the Control Yuan, seeking help for Xi to secure a position at the Mongolian and Tibetan Affairs Commission. Xi had lost a previous teaching post while working for the U.S. military.

The letter reveals their family ties with Yu and reflects the challenges faced by displaced intellectuals. Xi later taught in Germany, while Le focused on raising their children—one of whom was the renowned poet Xi Mu-rong (1943-).
