1949年國民政府與民眾渡海來臺是當代史上單一事件中規模最大的一次人口遷徙。他們不僅帶來豐富的知識與文化養分，也在新的土地上紮根發展，逐步形塑出兼具傳統底蘊與在地特色的新本土文化。

本單元聚焦於《毫末起雄風：一九四九渡海來臺新本土書家展》、《烽火尺牘――1949的戰爭記憶》兩期展覽中的部分作品，透過文獻、書信與書法作品，交織出書寫者在顛沛流離中，對故土、人倫與文化的深刻回應，也映照他們來臺後的創作實踐與書藝傳承。

In 1949, the relocation of the Nationalist government and civilians to Taiwan marked the largest population movement in modern Chinese history. These migrants brought rich cultural traditions and gradually shaped a new local identity rooted in both heritage and place.

This section features works from two exhibitions—Wartime Correspondences: Memories from the 1949 Battles and The Powerful Current Rising From the End of the Brush — A Collection of Taiwan’s New Nativist Calligraphy—highlighting letters and calligraphy created in times of displacement. These writings reveal the authors’ reflections on war, homeland, and cultural continuity amid upheaval.
