科舉
The Imperial Examination

1.jpg

The imperial examination system was the primary pathway for producing civil officials in imperial China for over a thousand years. For those who entered the imperial exams, success or failure could determine their entire life.

After Taiwan was incorporated into the Qing Empire in 1684, it too became part of the examination culture. Taiwanese scholars competed for success in the imperial exams and made their mark within the system.

This section features selected artifacts from the past exhibition Imperial Examinations, highlighting various aspects of the scholar’s journey to officialdom. Among them, The Cheating Note was voted the most popular artifact in the first phase of the exhibition.
